Enjoy the holiday season in Dordrecht
From the 13th to the 31st of December, the city centre will transform into the setting for the Dordtse Decemberdagen. Dining at local restaurants, shopping for gifts and an abundance of lights will bring a warm and festive ambiance during these dark days.
Dwaalspoor: highlight of the Dordtse Decemberdagen
The Dwaalspoor light walk is the highlight of the Dordtse Decemberdagen. It can be admired in the historic city centre from the 13th until the 30th of December from 17:00 – 22:00. Take a stroll along various locations with beautiful light art. This year, you can once again experience the cosy December atmosphere from the water with the (evening) boat tours provided by the Klein Schippersgilde.
Intimate December Market
On Saturday the 14th and Sunday the 15th of December you can enjoy cozy wooden cabins filled with festive (Christmas) gifts around the Grotekerkstuin, Grotekerksbuurt, and Groenmarkt. From handmade presents and charming decorations to local specialities. The wooden houses and warm atmosphere are the perfect opportunity to browse around and score unique gifts for the holidays. After the successful edition in 2023, the December Market will be expanded to 50 wooden chalets in 2024. Besides the Christmas houses, there will be a number of food trucks next to the garden of the Grote Kerk. The December Market is an intimate, cosy market that treats you to fun, truly Dordrecht products, among other things.
Wintertuin: festive and cozy!
From the 26th to the 30th of December, the garden of the Grote Kerk is also a festive hotspot! Here you’ll find the cozy Wintertuin, where Dordrecht’s food scene will offer their delicacies during Dwaalspoor. There will be a nostalgic fairground attraction for children and live music on a small stage to complete the festive vibe. This is the perfect place to enjoy the winter magic!
The atmospheric (shopping) streets with cozy lighting, various activities for the whole family and, last but not least, all the Christmas trees scattered through the city centre complete the experience. And of course, throughout December, there is plenty of time to shop for your Christmas gifts at all the shops in the city. The Dordtse Decemberdagen will conclude spectacularly on Wednesday the 31st of December with a dazzling fireworks show at the Drierivierenpunt!
